can ya smell the romance?

that's what mommy had in mind for daddy today, the smell of romance. and that's why she oh-so-cleverly sent him two dozen long-stemmed red roses a few days before valentine's day. you see, thinking he'd be thrown off the trail, mommy had also ordered a lovely (or so she thought) bouquet of red tulips arranged in a cool glass vase with the word "love" etched on the side, which were to be delivered today, to daddy's office. doesn't that sound nice? mommy thought so. daddy, not so much. oh, he got the flowers all right. they did arrive today. and, they were arranged in a cool glass vase with the word "love" etched on the side. but they were also, dead (ish). not quite the message mommy meant to send.
meanwhile, back at the ranch, lo and behold! what should arrive for mommy? the gorgeous number you see over here ---4 those are live red tulips, my friends, along with mommy's most favorite of all flowers, irises. daddy also sent this lovely note. so...did my daddy do good, or what? too bad his reward for all this loving attention is likely to be... pizza. oh, don't get me wrong, mommy planned to get down to the store in order to prepare something delish for dinner, but somehow, she never made it. and, she's not about to go now. on the other hand... nothing "smells" romance like reallyreally good mexican take-out, right daddy?
